Wildfire spreads to settlement gutting property worth Rs 4.42m in Tehrathum

TEHRATHUM: A wildfire which spread to a settlement has gutted six houses in Laligurans Municipality of Tehrathum district on Tuesday. The fire started from Hatti Aahal community forest and spread to the nearby settlement gutting property worth Rs 4.42 million at Solma, at around 3:00 pm yesterday. The houses belonging to Govinda Adhikari, Laxmi Adhikari, Narendra Adhikari, Loknath Neupane, Guru Prasad Luintel and Ek Raj Timsina were destroyed in the fire, Chief District Officer, Ved Nidhi Khanal informed. A joint team of security personnel deployed from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army with the help of locals brought the fire under control at 6:00 pm. It took long to douse the fire due to lack of water and fire engine.
