Makwanpur, Ilam win

KATHMANDU: Makwanpur and Ilam entered the semi-finals of the U-14 DDC Chaiman Cup Football Tournament. Makwanpur beat Lalitpur 1-0 while Ilam beat Nuwakot 4-2 in tie-breaker after a 1-1 draw. Parsa sneaked past Rupandehi 3-2 and Saptari blanked Kavre 3-0 and made it to the last eight. — HNS

NSJF, HSC draw

KATHMANDU: Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) and Nepal Sports Journalists’ Forum (NSJF) played a 3-3 draw in a friendly match organised by the HSC to mark Lhosar on Saturday. The NSJF made a great comeback after trailing by three goals. Pemba Dorje Sherpa struck twice and Karma Sherpa added another for HSC. For NSJF, Prajwol Shakya scored two and Prajit Shakya one. ANFA vice-president and president of HSC Karma Ghale said that the club will begin its ‘A’ Division campaign with ‘C’ Division qualifying this year. — HNS

Ramailo badminton

KATHMANDU: Durga Limbu and Hari Maya Limbu beat Nirmala Thapa and Pratima Thapa 15-7, 15-8 in the ladies’ doubles final at the third Ramailo Badminton Tournament. Kesh Gauchan and Sanjay Shrestha rallied to a 15-11, 12-15, 15-3 over Jagat Ram Rai and Shiva Rai in vereran’s doubles final, while Anil Shah and Pradesh KC won the mens’ doubles title beating Santosh Moktan and Kshitiz Subba 15-5, 12-15, 15-10. — HNS

CAN beat CG-XI

KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) beat Chaudhary Groups (CG) by 70 runs in a friendly cricket match here at TU Stadium. Batting first, CAN scored 199/5 in 30 overs, riding on Samson Jung Thapa’s 50. Man of the match Pradip Karki, who later on completed a five-wicket haul, made 37 runs while Prafulla Baidhya (34), and Suman Lama (22) also chipped in runs for CAN. Manish Up-adhaya and Didip Bhattarai took two wickets each for CG. In reply, CG could muster 129 runs. — HNS
