ATHRAI, TEHRATHUM: A tanker driver has been arrested on the charge of raping a teenage girl at Aathrai Rural Municipality in Tehrathum district.

Prem Khadka (19) of Gurwakot Municipality-3 in Surkhet district was arrested for allegedly raping a mentally challenged 18-year-old girl, police said.

The driver of a tanker (Ba 1 Kha 6677) was accused of raping the girl on Tuesday evening after promising to drive her home in the vehicle when the girl was returning from the market, according to a complaint lodged by the victim's family at the Area Police Office, Sakranti Bazaar.

Police said that further investigations into the case are underway while the girl has been sent to the District Hospital for health check-up.
