Goldens sign Indian cricketers for DPL

Kathmandu, March 24 Kathmandu Goldens announced two Indian cricketers, Jaykishan Kolsawla and Sunny Patel as their foreign players for the second Ruslan Dhangadhi Premier League slated for March 31 to April 13 at the SSP grounds in Dhangadhi. According to a press release issued by Dhangadhi Cricket Academy, Gujarat’s Kolsawala is wicketkeeper-cum-batsman and has played four List A matches and nine first class matches including in Ranji Trophy. Kolsawala recently played for Lalitpur Patriots in the Everest Premier League held at the TU Grounds in Kirtipur in December last year. Right-hand batsman Patel, who has also featured in Ranji Trophy, also played for Lalitpur Patriots in the EPL. Patel has played 13 List A and 17 first class matches. Similarly, Rupandehi Challengers have signed Oman’s Sufyan Mehmood and India’s Deepak Prasad. Left-hand batsman Mehmood has played two each T20 International matches and List A matches for Oman, while Prasad has played for Bengal U-23 team. A total of six teams — Kathmandu Goldens, CYC Attariya, Mahendranagar United, Team Chauraha Dhangadhi, Biratnagar Kings and Rupandehi Challengers — are competing in the event. The teams are allowed to sign a maximum of two foreign players in their squads for the tournament. Top two teams of the tournament will get Rs 2.5 million and one million rupees respectively. Similarly, teams finishing third and fourth will get Rs 300,000 and Rs 200,000 respectively, while the player of the series will get TVS Apache motorbike. Man of the match in every game will earn Rs 10,000. Meanwhile, the DCA announced singer Pramod Kharel as the goodwill ambassador of the event. “We are proud to announce the association with singer Kharel and we will have a special presentation by him during the inauguration ceremony,” said DCA in a release. Kharel had sung the theme song of the first edition of the tournament.
