RAJBIRAJ: Property worth around Rs 300,000 was destroyed in a fire that gutted a house in Govindapur of Chinnamasta Rural Municipality-3 in Saptari district on Saturday night.

The fire that started from the kitchen of the house belonging to Ramananda Jha while cooking,  burnt the house as well as a cow shed to cinders, according to Area Police Office, Chinnamasta.

All food stock, clothes, utensils and cash housed inside the building were gutted in the fire, informed District Police Office, Saptari.

Police with the help of locals and a fire tender from Rajbiraj Municipality doused the fire.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
