Kathmandu, April 10 District Administration Office, Bhaktapur, has beefed up security for Bisket Jatra to avoid possible untoward incident during the festival. Bisket Jatra that started in Bhaktapur today lasts for nine days and eight nights. According to Krishna Prasai, information officer at Bhaktapur Metropolitan Police Range, more than 1,000 security personnel have been mobilised for security during the festival which also marks the beginning of Nepali New Year. He also informed that lights and CCTV cameras had been installed in major thoroughfares of the city. “Stern action would be taken against miscreants,” he added. According to Prasai nearly three dozen CCTV cameras have been installed on the route of the procession. Superintendent of Police Kiran Rana said that Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel had been mobilised to maintain law and order. “Tight security has been put in place in coordination with local levels, District Administration Office and Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur,” he added.
