Supreme Court begins daily press meet

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has started the event of daily press meet from Sunday. Organising the press meet on Sunday, the SC said that it has settled more than 8,000 cases in nine months of the current fiscal year. SC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Panthi said that a total of 8,324 cases have been cleared from 16 July, 2017 to April 13, 2018. As per the schedule to organise daily press meet, the SC made the details of clearance of cases public by orgaising the press meet. He said that more cases have been settled this year as compared to the previous year. Out of 27,929, only 29.8 per cent cases were settled last year, he added. A total of 19,605 cases are still in progress, said Panthi. The SC is organising the press meet from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm from Sunday to Thursday and 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday with an objective of informing the media about its work execution.
