Guilty in child's murder awarded 31 years in prison

GAUSHALA: The District Court, Mahottari has sentenced two persons convicted of murdering a child after abduction to 31 years in prison. Pappu Yadav of Jaleshwor Municipality-1 and Govinda Kumar Mishra (20) of Jaleshwor Municipality-6 were found guilty in the murder of 11-year-old Nishal Pandey alias Cute, son of Nabin Pandey of Maliwara village of Jaleshwor-12. The duo murdered the child after kidnapping him and buried the dead body near the Ratu River Bridge at Jaleshwor-13 in the evening of January 14, 2016. The court ordered each of them to serve 31 years in jail and pay a fine of around Rs 1.6 million, according to court registrar Ramananda Prasad Adhikari. The third convict in the case, Shibam Chaudhary of Jaleshwor-2, has been sentenced 11 years in prison along with a fine of around Rs 1.6 million. They abducted the child from a bus stop at Jaleshwor-12 and demanded a ransom of Rs three million from his father. They suffocated him to death by squeezing his mouth and nose as the child started crying after knowing of his abduction.
