Lamjung, April 29 Sakuntala Gharti, 27, of Rainas Municipality in Lamjung has been missing since March 26 and her whereabouts are yet to be known. Gharti, whose husband is employed abroad, has not even contacted her family. Like Gharti, many children and women are missing in Lamjung. They went missing and have remained out of contact. According to statistics with District Police Office, Lamjung, as many as 79 women and children disappeared in fiscal 2016-17. Of them, 62 were women while the remaining were children — 11 boys and six girls. Police said that of the missing, contact was made with 25 women and 10 children. Still, 44 persons are missing and out of reach. Similarly, till mid-March of the current fiscal, 98 persons have gone missing. Of them, 70 women, 11 girls and nine boys have disappeared. Police were able to contact a few of the missing. Inspector Dactor Prasad Chaudhary said as many as 79 have remained out of contact till date. A high number of women between 16 to 25 years of age have gone missing, Chaudhary added.
