SIMARA, BARA: As many as 40 people, including students and teachers, were injured after a bus they were travelling on met with an accident in Churiyamai of Bara district in the wee hours today.

The bus (Me 1 Kha 2429) en route from Jhapa to Pokhara hit a truck (Na 5 Kha 3582) injuring 40 people aboard in Churiyamai, at 2:00 am, Makawanpur District Police Office confirmed.

The students and teachers were said to be heading to attend an event in Pokhara under the Nelta Jhapa Access Programme.

Among the injured, 33 persons have been admitted to Hetauda Hospital, six others in a Bharatpur-based hospital while another one is undergoing treatment in Kathmandu, police said.
