PHALEBAS, PARBAT: A 20-year-old youth accused of raping a 79-year-old woman with disability in Parbat district has been remanded to judicial custody for further interrogation.

A bench of District Judge Dhruba Prasad Sapkota on Tuesday remanded Shankar Pariyar of Modi Rural Municipality-1 in the district to custody as per Article 118 (2) of the Muluki Ain.

Pariyar was charged of raping the elderly woman on April 19 when she was alone in her house in Modi Rural Municipality.

Later police had lodged the case in District Court after the victim informed her relatives about the incident.

Pariyar has confessed to raping the elderly woman and said that he was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the crime.
