KATHMANDU: Lawmakers taking part in the deliberations on the government’s policies and programmes in today's meeting of the House of Representatives have focused on their effective implementation.
They have opined that the policies and programmes will remain ineffective unless they are properly implemented.
Taking part in the deliberations, lawmaker Agni Sapkota said that the presence of middlemen in every sector was wrong and therefore government should strictly bring an end to it. He further added that the part of implementation must be made stronger for better results.
Likewise parliamentarian Laxman Lal Karna said that the constitution amendment was imperative for peace. On the other hand, lawmaker Rajendra Shrestha said that the phrase 'federal democratic republic' was not mentioned in the policies and programmes which was regrettable.
Lawmaker Jaypuri Gharti also opined for proper implementation of the policies and programmes as they were devised to create a foundation for taking the nation ahead on the path of socialism. Parliamentarian Dilendra Prasad Badu, however, demanded a rewrite of the policies and programmes terming them a way to deceive people's representatives by incorporating long-term goals although the policies and programmes were just intended for the fiscal year 2075\76, and that there was a negligence to strengthen federalism. Lawmaker Rabindra Raj Sharma supported the policies and programmes terming them practical, while lawmakers Man Kumari GC, Prem Prasad Tulachan and Chandra Chaudhary demanded for their implementation, word by word. Likewise, parliamentarian Chhakka Bahadur Lama suggested the government to focus on tourism for the development of Karnali Province and to increase the investment in energy. Lawmaker Devendra Poudel stood by the policies and programmes, which have incorporated plans to blacktop roads at local levels within five years, construct East-West railway, Birgunj-Kathmandu Railway and Rasuwagadhi-Kathmandu Railway, and uplift the country's economy among others.
