Man killed in Panchthar accident while ferrying younger brother's dead body

PANCHTHAR: A man, who was bringing the body of his deceased younger brother back to his village in Taplejung, died in a road accident in Hilihang Rural Municipality-7 of Panchthar district on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Bhakta Bahadur Limbu (43) of Phaktalung Rural Muncipality-2 in Taplejung district. Limbu was carrying his brother Devi Prasad Limbu's body from Kathmandu on a reserved pickup van (Ba 17 Cha 8451) when he fell off the vehicle today morning and was injured, informed police. Limbu, who was sitting at the rear, fell from the pickup while changing gear, said the driver, Manoj Shrestha. Injured Limbu succumbed to his injuries on the way to Panchthar Hospital, according to police. Meanwhile, Jorpokhari-based Police Post has detained the driver, and both the bodies have also been kept there. Further investigation into the case is underway, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bamdev Gautam at District Police Office, Panchthar. Devi Prasad, who had gone to Malaysia for employment around 1.5 years ago, had died there and was being brought home for final rites.
