4 dead, 7 hurt as jeep plunges 150m onto Dadeldhura river bed

DADELDHURA: As many as four persons died and seven others sustained critical injuries after the jeep they were travelling on fell below the road along the KI Singh Highway in Ganyapdhura Rural Municipality-3 of Dadeldhura district in the late morning today. Dadeldhura District Police Office (DPO) has identified one of the four victims as the jeep owner Binod Rawal of Silgadhi in Dipayal district. According to the DPO, the Bolero jeep (Se 1 Ja 330) heading towards Bagkhor, the district headquarters of Dadeldhura, from Dipayal in Doti district, skidded off the road and plunged 150 metres onto Radwa River bed, killing three passengers on the spot and injuring eight others, at Gajaraula, at around 11:30 am today. The jeep was carrying a total of 11 persons including the driver. A team of security personnel deployed from the DPO rescued the passengers from the wrecked four-wheeler and rushed them to the Far-Western Sub Regional Hospital in Bagkhor for treatment. It has been reported that one of the injured breathed his last during the course of treatment at the hospital. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the DPO, Chakra Raj Joshi, has cited high speed driving as the cause of the accident.
