Youth missing in Phewa Lake for 11 days, found dead

POKHARA: A youth who had reportedly gone missing in Phewa Lake eleven days ago has been found dead near Khapaudi in Pokhara-18 on Wednesday, police said. Earlier, the victim Suprim Lama (18) along with his friends had gone to visit Pokhara. On May 27, Lama along with four other friends had taken a boat to Nauka Bihar, but strong wind had capsized the boat. After the incident, police immediately rescued four others, however, Lama had been missing in the lake ever since. Security personnel including divers conducted search operations for few days but to no avail. Today, locals alerted the police after they spotted a body floating on the water near Khapaudi in Pokhara-18. According to the Kaski District Police Office, a police team deployed from Baidam Ward Police Post recovered the body, which was found in a swollen state, out of the water. Meanwhile, the body has been handed over to the relatives after conducting autopsy at the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara, police said. Lama is a college student in Kathmandu and hails from Ramechhap district.
