Efforts to pull doomed bus fail

Jyamireghat (Dhading), March 10:

All efforts to pull out the passenger bus that fell into the Trishuli river four days ago with 50 passengers on board had gone in vain till this evening. The bus had met with an accident at Jyamireghat, which is located at Dhading district’s Jogimara VDC-9 along the Prithivi Highway. Efforts to pull the bus out have continued since Wednesday, when it was first located.

The bus belonging to Tilanga Transport headed for Kathmandu from Kankarbhitta, Jhapa, fell into the Trishuli river after being hit by a car at 4:30 pm on Tuesday.

Five passengers were rescued alive, while five dead bodies were also recovered. Although another body was taken out of the river yesterday, the state of other missing passengers remains unknown.

According to the deputy superintendent of police in Dhading, Mahendra Kumar Pokhrel, all dead bodies found till date have been identified.
