MFD forecasts heavy rain for three days

Kathmandu, June 29 The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in most parts of eastern and western regions in the next three days due to active monsoon trough. Issuing a three-day monsoon update, it said the central region was also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. Meanwhile, Flood Forecasting Section of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has sounded flood alert across the country, especially in the Tarai, Chure and mid-hills of the central and western regions as these places are likely to witness heavy rainfall for two days. “The water level in all rivers flowing through the Chure are likely to rise above the danger mark. Therefore, we would like to appeal to all to remain alert for potential floods in all district of the Tarai and Chure region,” a notice issued by the DoHM read. People have also been advised to attach priority to preparedness and response. The DoHM said people living in the plains and landslide-prone areas should be alert against potential disasters.
