Tree falls upon three sisters leaving 1 dead, 2 critical in Tanahun

DAMAULI: A girl died and two others sustained injuries after a tree fell upon them in Byas Municipality-6 of Tanahun district on Tuesday morning. Police have identified the deceased as Binisha Thapa (10) and injured as Ashmita Thapa (12) and Shonisha Thapa (8), all three daughters of Tej Bahadur Thapa. The incident occurred when a Saal tree, loosened due to rain, fell upon the sisters trio when they were walking along the Maherrandi Marg to their school at Pataltar today morning, critically injuring all three, according to Superintendent of Police Shidhi Bikram Shah, Chief of District Police Office, Tahanun. The injured sisters were rushed to the Damauli-based Ratnahari Hospital where Binisha breathed her last during the course of treatment. Meanwhile, two others have been referred to Pokhara-based Manipal Hospital after preliminary treatment there, police said. The sisters were on their way to New Kalika Academy, Sisaghat when the tree fell upon them, informed Police Constable Chandra Bahadur Rana. Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway.
