Kathmandu, July 9 Human Rights and Peace Society, Nepal, has decided to stage a protest tomorrow at the most sensitive and no protest zones in front of the Singha Durbar, the Parliament House and the Prime Minister’s office in Baluwatar against the government’s recent decisions. Briefing about the programme, Chair of HURPES Nepal Gangadhar Adhikari told THT that the decision to prohibit public from protesting at Maitighar Mandala and other places of Kathmandu and turning deaf ears to the demands of Ganga Maya Adhikari and Dr Govinda KC had compelled them to declare the protest programme. “We can clearly see that the government is moving on the path of imposing authoritative rule. Declaring core areas inside Kathmandu as prohibited zones is unacceptable as it violates citizens’ right to peaceful assembly,” Adhikari said. “We will be staging protest at sensitive areas tomorrow and will keep on doing so until the government changes its decision to prohibit the public from protesting at Maitighar Mandala and other places of Kathmandu and address the demands of Adhikari and Dr KC,” he added.
