KATHMANDU: Bhaktapur and Madhyapur Thimi areas have become waterlogged due to deluge caused by the swollen Hanumante River following torrential rain last night. Local residents have not been able to come out of their houses as hundreds of houses have been inundated since midnight on Wednesday. Nearly 30 people have been rescued from the flooding so far. There have been two major flooding instances in Bhaktapur in the last four years, river 'encroachment' could be one of the reasons for which, according the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. However, according to locals, the flooding of this intensity occurred after 18 years although there have been incidents of flooding in the area before. READ ALSO:
