Kathmandu, July 13 Stay on Kathmandu District Administration’s decision to ban protests at Maitighar Mandala and some other key places in Kathmandu will continue till Monday. On Monday, the Supreme Court will decide whether or not the stay order it had issued on a case filed by Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi against Kathmandu DAO and the government should continue. The SC, which heard the case today, ordered to procure files of the decisions made by Kathmandu District Administration and District Security Committee to ban protests at Maitighar Mandala and other places in Kathmandu, said Tripathi. A bench of justices Hari Krishna Karki and Dambar Bahadur Shahi heard the case. Tripathi said the ban would continue till Monday as the SC did not take any decision on the previous stay order it had passed on July 6. Tripathi has said the government’s decision to ban protest at Maitighar Mandala had violated citizens’ right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.
