BIRATNAGAR: Few days past the heinous rape and murder of 13-year-old girl of Kanchanpur in Province 7, another body of an unidentified girl has been recovered from a culvert of under construction railway track in Biratnagar of Province 1 on Friday. Locals had informed the police after finding a mutilated body afloat in a culvert. “The police have initiated a probe into the case,” Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar KC said. “Although the girl has not been identified yet, the police have grounds to believe it to be a case of rape and murder.” The police will carry out an investigation considering all angles, KC added. The deceased’s body has been taken to Koshi Zonal Hospital for an autopsy. A day ago, parliamentarians speaking at the provincial assembly had called out for stern measures against incidents of rape. A lawmaker from ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Ambika Thapa, had demanded the government to enact a provision of capital punishment for rape-related crimes through amendment of the constitution.
