KATHMANDU: The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) on Tuesday said that Nepal's new Criminal Codes criminalises expresses expression and restricts press freedom. 'Nepal’s new Criminal Codes Act 2018 curtails freedom of expression and the press. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and its affiliates the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) and the Nepal Press Union (NPU) in expressing serious concerns over some restrictive provisions; and demand immediate amendments in the Act,' the IFJ said in a press statement. The federation has expressed concerns over the restrictive provisions and demands immediate amendments to ensure that they meet the globally accepted standards of freedom of expression.
