Saptakoshi River flood inundates 500 houses in Saptari

RAJBIRAJ: At least 500 households have been inundated after the overflooding Saptakoshi River entered the human settlements in Saptari district last night. Most of the human settlements from Jaminiya to Rampura Malahaniya of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality and most of the areas in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality wards 3 and 4 have been waterlogged due to flooding in the river last night, shared Sub Inspector at Police Office Hanumannagar, Chandrasagar Kerung. The flood survivors were rescued and temporarily settled beside the Bhardaha-Kunauli road section. According to the Chairperson of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality Satish Kumar Singh, the flood has also submerged paddy planted in 300 bighas. The human settlements which are below the Koshi Barrage and located in the east, west and southern belt of the municipality office have been adversely affected. The office of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality office and Lilaza Thakur Primary School have also been inundated in the flood.
