Municipality to buy plastic waste

Sindhulimadhi, August 28 Sindhuli’s Kamalamai Municipality has decided to purchase plastic waste from local households to make its plastic-free municipality drive a success. The decision was taken after the municipality’s ban on the use of polythene bags couldn’t be fully implemented. The municipality issued a notice informing about its decision to buy plastic waste from households. “As per our decision, we will purchase plastic-based waste from localities,” said Mayor Khadga Bahadur Khatri, adding, “While an empty mineral water bottle will be bought at 50 paisa per piece, other plastic-based waste such as chocolate and noodle wrappers will be bought at Rs 10 per kg.” The new policy will be instrumental in implementing the municipality’s plan to make the municipality plastic-free, the mayor hoped.
