662 persons fined for violating traffic rules in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: As many as 662 persons were booked for violating traffic rules in Kathmandu Valley yesterday, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division said. According to the MTPD, 77 persons were charged for driving under the influence of alcohol, 22 people for violating lane rules and 15 people were fined for illegal parking in the valley. Likewise, as many as five persons were penalised for honking. MTPD further said 543 persons were fined for other offences. Police have intensified traffic vigilance to ease traffic congestion and minimise road accidents in the valley. Meanwhile, police said 8,641 vehicles entered the valley and 8,619 vehicles left Kathmandu though various points yesterday.
