Kathmandu, September 8 The government has developed a mobile app for the purpose of all local levels and asked them to use it. A circular issued to the local levels by Information and Technology Section under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration said that the mobile app was developed to disseminate all information about local governments and their services to the people. People may also air their grievances directly to the concerned local level through the mobile app developed by the Department of Information Technology. It is an attempt to empower the people at the local levels. All local levels may use the mobile app without any charge, the MoFAGA said. Key features of the app includes brief introduction and statistics of the local levels, GIS maps, contact number of people’s representatives and employees with photo, laws and rules, budget and programme, emergency phone number and projects being conducted. The app is linked to official website of the local levels and any information or data uploaded and updated in the website can be received by the smart phone users immediately. The app was initially developed for Dhulikhen Municipality. “The app also provides information about the time to be taken for delivering services, responsible officers, service charge, documents required, procedures and model forms, among others,” the MoFAGA said. The users can receive, read and download data or information about various programmes and projects of the local level. “It also provides information about hospitals, educational institutions, tourist hubs, religious and cultural sites, and hotel through interactive maps,” the MoFAGA said. The local level may also use the app to conduct opinion polls to sample public attitudes on any issue or agenda.
