Surkhet, October 6 Karnali Province is learnt to be preparing to distribute budgetary fund to various private firms in the name of promotion of agriculture and entrepreneurship. As per sources, the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives has allocated budget for around three dozen private firms  without any guidelines. Out of the total 20 million rupees allocated by the ministry under meat promotion programme for this fiscal, over 13 million rupees is learnt to be allocated for private enterprises. While it has allocated 4.25 million rupees under the programme to some 12 private firms in Surkhet, 2.1 million has been earmarked for Jajarkot, while such allocations for Rukum and Humla are Rs 4.7 million and Rs 1.9 million respectively. Meanwhile, such allocation of budget without setting up clear guidelines has got the public suspicious. Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Bimala KC, however, claimed that there wouldn’t be any misuse of the fund whatsoever. “The budget has been allocated in line with the provincial policy and programmes. As for the procedures to implement the budget, we are working to bringing the procedures very soon,” she said.
