KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management has opened route permit for public vehicles from today.

In order to ease the travelling of incoming and outgoing passengers for the upcoming grand festivals of Nepali people -- Dashain, Tihar and Chhat that are approaching -- the Department has kept the route permit open from October 10 to 17.

Department’s Information Officer Gokarna Prasad Upadhyay said, with the opening of route permit the vehicle drivers do not need to wait their turn to carry passengers to their destinations.

General-Secretary of Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE), Saroj Sitaula, said the opening of route permit would make it easier for vehicles to carry passengers to their destinations in a comfortable manner.

To facilitate movement of other vehicles, the Department has banned the operation of heavy vehicles ‘Multi Axle Tractor Trailer’ entering into Kathmandu with goods during the period.
