RUKUM: Property worth Rs 250,000 was destroyed when fire gutted a house in East Rukum at 11:30 pm on Friday.

Cash equivalent to Rs 55,000, food grains, utensils and clothes placed inside the thatched-roofed house of Gyanu Budha were destroyed by fire.

It has been learnt that the fire broke out while frying meat at the house.

Motikala Budha (36), Gyanu’s wife, sustained burn injuries to her hands, legs and back in the incident. She has been referred to Nepalgunj for treatment at the District Hospital, Salle.

The fire was doused by police and locals at 2:00 am.
