KATHMANDU: ‘Women in Concert’ is back once again to make you swing to the melodious voices of six femme fatales. And to add to it, this concert is aimed at a grave social cause.

In spite of the persisting political turmoil and uncertainty, Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust (KVPT), a US-based non-profit organisation, continues many restoration works in the Valley. “Keeping with our spirit of — The Show Must Go On — we are hosting our yearly fund-raiser on April 1. This charity event is called ‘Women in Concert for Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust at Baber Mahal Revisited’”, expressed Gautam SJB Rana, director development Nepal, KVPT. For its commendable work, KVPT received 2005 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award.

‘Women in Concert’ will be backed by a five-piece band, which will have six women perform in the concert for a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. The performers for the exclusive concert will be Vidhya Shrestha, Sapana Thapa, Akanksha Lama, Sherry Thapa, Rachana Gurung Sharma and Yankee. The repertoire will include jazz, ballads, classic rock and blues. All proceeds from the sales of tickets will go towards the restoration of Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Patan Durbar World Heritage Site.

An extensive Cash Bar will open from 6.30 pm onwards and the sit-down concert will begin at 7 pm with a 15 minute interval. Donor tickets are available for Rs 2000 per person that includes a welcome cocktail/mocktail, light snacks and barbeque dinner after the concert.
