KATHMANDU: Over a hundred days later since he was detained by authorities, Bangladeshi photo-journalist Shahidul Alam has been granted bail by a Dhaka high-court. Alam was arrested for his media interviews about student protests, apparently for 'spreading false information' against the government. Alam's niece, Sofia Karim had tweeted regarding his bail:

My uncle GRANTED BAIL!! Thanks all of you who spoke out & worked so hard to support us. You, his great big family helped us achieve this. https://t.co/22lPSSyEIQ #FreeShahidulAlam @alextomo @dmcstimes @saadhammadi @saliltripathi @FreeShahidul @Majority_World

Some good news at last. High court in Dhaka has granted bail to renowned #Bangladeshi photographer #ShahidulAlam. This has been a long battle for his counsels amid denials and delays in hearing. pic.twitter.com/Hq9LuRHi0V
