JITPUR, KAPILVASTU: An unidentified group shot a person dead in Kapilvastu on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Dipendra Kumar Chaudhary.

Chaudhary passed away on his way to Bhairahawa where he was referred to by a local hospital in Suddhodhan Rural Municipality-4 of the district.

He was shot at 9:00 pm on a road near his house in the locality, said Inspector Santosh Pokharel.

Some used bullet casings were recovered from the incident site and some people have been arrested in connection to the incident, Inspector Pokharel stated, adding that search for the assailants has been launched.

Chaudhary, 30, had stood as an independent candidate from Kapilvastu Constituency 1(B) in the provincial assembly elections last year.
