Plea to postpone SLC test

Plea to postpone SLC test

By Himalayan News Service

Kathmandu, March 30:

Stating that the SLC practical examination on listening, speaking and computer test will coincide with the April 6-9 general strike announced by the seven political parties, the Nepal National Teachers’ Association (NNTA) today requested the Office of Controller of Examination (OCE), Sanothimi, to postpone the tests.

Serving an ultimatum to the government today to meet its 16-point charter of educational demands within a week, the NNTA, a member of the National Teachers’ Union (NTU), said it would be compelled to announce another educational strike along with ‘decisive’ protest programmes if its demands were not met.

The NTU had submitted a memorandum to the government on December 10 and urged it to meet its demands within a month.

In a press release here today, the NNTA called on the government and the Maoists to announce ceasefire and sit for talks to end the conflict. It also condemned the government and the ministers for making baseless accusations against the political parties and terrorising the public.
