Birgunj, November 28 Three years have already passed since Salt Trading Corporation Limited Regional Office, Birgunj, bought zinc sheets for quake-damaged schools, but these sheets have not been distributed to the schools yet. The zinc sheets have been kept in the open on the premises of Nepal Food Corporation in Birgunj. Salt Trading Corporation Limited Regional Office, Birgunj, had procured the zinc sheets from Kolkata-based Zindal Company in August, 2015, for quake-damaged schools. Chief at Salt Trading Corporation Regional Office, Birgunj, Amod Lamichhane admitted that zinc sheets had not been distributed to the quake-damaged schools yet. “We had brought zinc sheets worth Rs 250 million for the schools with the government’s permission,” he said, adding that the government had not given any information about distributing zinc sheets. Salt Trading Corporation had issued a tender notice on January 28 this year for auctioning the zinc sheets after the authority concerned paid no attention. The tender notice was issued for the second time on May 23. Lamichhane said the corporation had informed the ministry concerned about the tender notice.
