Jhapa, December 6 Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Democratic Chairperson Pashupati Shamsher Rana has accused the government of promoting Christianity in the name of an international conference. Speaking at a senior cadres’ meet in  Birtamod,Jhapa today, the RPP-D chief said, “It was unfortunate that the government of a republic should be involved in the promotion of a religion, Christianity in this context, in the name of an Asia Pacific Conference organised by UPF (Universal Peace Federation), an organisation set up to promote Christianity.” Further, Rana flayed the government for its poor performance. “This is perhaps the most powerful government formed with two-third majority after the people’s movement in the 1990s, but apparently the government has failed to do anything significant in the past 10 months,” he said, warning that the party would resort to protest. Various other speakers including RPP-D General Secretary Sunil Bahadur Thapa also spoke on the occasion.
