My party’s government is serious about implementing the election manifesto Siraha, January 9 Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokharel has said the country’s development will pick up pace once the necessary laws are framed. “It might appear that the government is just sitting on its heels and doing nothing, but it is busy making necessary laws. Once the laws are in place, development will pick pace,” said the minister, speaking at the 29th memorial meeting of late farmer leader Jaya Govind Sah in Karjanha, Siraha, today. Further, the NCP (NCP) leader claimed that his party’s government was serious about implementing its election manifesto. “In our election manifesto, we declared that the social security allowance would be pegged at 5,000 rupees and gave a number of other assurances. Our government is committed to make good on these promises within five years,” said the leader. On the issue of distribution of naturalised citizenship certificate, the minister said his government was not for putting by-birth Nepali citizens in a minority by randomly distributing naturalised citizenship certificates. “As for foreign women who are related to Nepali men by marriage, they won’t be deprived of  naturalised citizenship as the government has already decided to this effect,” he added. On the occasion, NCP (NCP) spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha claimed that prosperity was possible only under his party’s government. “Prosperity is possible only under our government and through implementation of the constitution, even by amending it, if need be,” he said, claiming that the government led by the present prime minister would be at the helm for five years. Sah had died in 1990. Though he had died in Jayanagar of India, attempts to bring his body back home failed because of the then government.
