KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba stated today that the government led by him had not made any decision to purchase Nepal Airlines' wide-body aircraft.

At a news conference organised by Nepal Press Union in Dhangadhi today, NC President Deuba said that the erstwhile government led by KP Sharma Oli had forwarded the wide-body aircraft purchase process by forming a sub-committee and Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government had called for tender for the same.

Expressing sadness over the rumor linking his name in wide-body purchase scam, the main opposition party leader Deuba said, 'Action should be taken against those involved in embezzlement in course of wide-body aircarft purchase.'

Deuba further urged the media to exert pressure on government to take action against those involved in crimes, stating that criminal activities like murder and rape are on rise in the country.

The NC President said, 'The government has been hiding the guilty of rape and murder case of Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur. Media should exert pressure on government to take action against the guilty.'

The former prime minister said that the government led-by him had held talks with Dr Govinda KC and introuced an Act to make medical education qualitative and timely. Deuba objected to the incumbent government's act of trying to amend the medical act through ordinance.
