Professional organisations on Friday handed over a memorandum to Surkhet CDO, Durga Nidhi Sharma, protesting police high handedness on rights activists and journalists.

Yesterday police had manhandled rights activists and journalists monitoring a rally.

They sought suspension of Inspector Raj Kumar Silwal and other guilty policemen and probe into the case. They said police beat up journalists, who were covering stir and rights activists monitoring the situation. Policemen had pelted stones at agitators, the memorandum further said.
