President Bhandari attends National Democracy Day celebration

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has attended the main function of the 69th National Democracy Day at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel today.

Every year, Falgun 7 is observed as the National Democracy Day to commemorate the attainment of democracy through people's struggle after the end of autocratic Rana Regime.

On the occasion, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister and National Democracy Day-2075 Main Function Committee Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina were present.

Also present on the occasion were Deputy Prime Minister, ministers, chiefs of constitutional bodies, high-ranking government officials and chiefs of diplomatic missions.

A Nepal Army Helicopter hoisted banner reading 69th National Democracy Day-2075.

As part of the function, the national anthem was recited, homage was paid to all known and unknown martyrs, and march-past was carried out from various organisations including the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Scout.

At the ceremony, cultural performances were also carried out to reflect diverse cultures of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Madhyapur Thimi and Kirtipur.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the ceremony.
