Unidentified group torches newspapers

LAHAN: An unidentified group has set alight various national dailies at Lahan of Siraha district this morning.

The group burnt around 400 copies of Kantipur, The Kathmandu Post, Saptahik, Hello Shukrabar and other newspapers kept for sale in front of Sita Nobel News Centre at Lahan.

Centre's proprietor, Dinesh Dev said that the newspapers were burning when he reached to open his shop in the morning. 'The newspapers were in flame when I reached the shop. It is not known who burnt the newspapers and for what reason,' he said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Lahan-based Area Police Office, Rajesh Thapa, said investigation is on regarding the incident.

Some days back, newspapers like Kantipur and The Kathmandu Post among others that were delivered to Sita Nobel News Centre were found stolen.
