KATHMANDU: Nepal Cycling Association is organising the 17th National MTB Cross Country Championship and ninth MTB Downhill Championship at the Gokarna Shahid Smarak Park on March 15-16. Around 65 cyclists will take part in the cross country event, while 30 riders are expected to compete in downhill section, informed President of Nepal Cycling Association Gopal Kakshapati at a press meet on Sunday. The Cross Country Championship features three events — Elite (men and women), Junior (boys and girls), and Master (men), while the Downhill Championship will have Elite (men and women) and Junior (boys) events. “We have prepared a 3.5km cross country route and 1.5km downhill track with the help of Gokarneshwor Municipality and the technical committee will decide the number of laps before the event,” he added.
