KATHMANDU: Nepalaya's micro event series, Paleti, has released Nepal's first female singer Malewa Devi's covered version on its official YouTube channel, on Wednesday. Malewa Devi Gurung, a native of Okaldhunga district, rose to prominence after singing 'Na Gharlai Ghar Kahincha Nari Nai Durbar Ho' written by martyr Sukraraj Shastri during the Rana regime. Despite being adored by Chandra Shamsher, Malewa Devi left the palace after falling in love with a musician. Later, she went abroad and settled there. In a statement today, Nepalaya said, Malewa Devi's swift playfulness of vocals mesmerises audiences even today. A rare recording of the songs 'Na Gharlai Ghar Kahincha' and 'Sawari Mero Relaima' was penned by martyr Sukraraj Shastri and sung by Malewa Devi. Among these songs, 'Na Gharlai Ghar Kahincha' covered by singer Meena Niraula has been uploaded on YouTube. Paleti is a micro-series musical concert where singers and musicians come together on a platform and perform in close proximity with the audience at its regular venue, Nepalaya's 'sala' at Kalikasthan in Kathmandu. Ticket booking can be done through Paleti's social media pages and through Nepalaya. Similarly, online ticket can be purchased through www.thrupai.com, according to the statement.
