Province 2 launches CM Relief Fund, forms relief and rescue management committee

KATHMANDU: An emergency meeting of the Province 2 Council of Ministers was held early on Monday following the massive storm that hit the southern districts of Bara and Parsa on Sunday evening which resulted in the loss of dozens of lives and injuring hundreds. At least 29 people lost their lives in the disaster while over 600 were injured. The meeting chaired by Province 2 Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut has made several decisions in order to address the current situation faced by residents of the storm-affected areas. A Chief Minister's Relief Fund has been launched for those willing to provide support for relief works. CM Raut as well Chief Attorney for the Province Dipendra Jha had provided details for the fund through their respective tweets. The Province 2 government will bear all costs incurred during the treatment of those injured, according to the statement issued today by the Office of the Chief Minister. In addition, it has been decided that a five-member committee would be formed that would, first, study the details of damages caused by the rainstorm, and, secondly, manage the rescue and relief efforts being conducted in the Province.
