Storm toll rises to 28

KATHMANDU: The death toll from the devastating windstorm in Bara and Parsa districts rose to 28 after a five-year-old boy, who was undergoing treatment at the Birgunj-based National Medical College, died on Tuesday, said the Ministry of Home Affairs. Phyaz Alam of Bara was critically injured when his house collapsed in the windstorm. The MoHA has put the number of injured at 668. Under-secretary Bednidhi Khanal told THT that 435 persons were discharged after providing primary medical care in health facilities. “As many as 221 of the injured are undergoing treatment in Birgunj, nine in Kathmandu and three in Bara,” he added.
