Lamjung, April 9 Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel today accused the government of trying to impose totalitarianism by ignoring opposition parties, against the basic tenet of democracy. Addressing NC’s Lamjung District Conference at Besisahar, Paudel alleged that the government had appointed its leaders and cadres in the constitutional bodies without consulting the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress. “The government is appointing its cadres and leaders arbitrarily in the constitutional bodies. However, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has kept silent on this,” Paudel said. He claimed that the government had failed in all aspects. “Crime has gone up. Cases of rape and corruption rising,” Paudel charged. Paudel said intra-party rift and betrayal were the main reasons for his party’s loss in the last general and provincial polls.
