Himalayan Sherpa Club prevail in high scoring thriller to enter semis

PHIDIM: Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) defeated New Star Club Sunsari 4-3 in a high scoring thriller and entered into the last four of the ongoing Panchthar Gold Cup on Thursday. Kathmandu-based HSC's skipper Man Bahadur Tamang broke the deadlock in the 9th minute of the game. HSC were all over NSC Sunsari as they scored four goals in the first half. READ ALSO:

HSC's foreign recruit Dady Bamba scored a brace in the 13th and 25th minute in a dominating display of attacking game at the full house crowd in Phidim School Ground today. Bijaya Shrestha scored his first and team's fourth goal in the 37th minute giving an inaccessible lead before half time. However, Tirtha Basnet led the fight back for NSC Sunsari as he scored in the 39th minute before going 4-1 down in the first half. In the second half, NSC Sunsari came out all guns blazing and scored two more goals to reduce the arrears but to no avail. Dinesh Rai scored in the 72nd minute and Roshan Bhujel notched another goal in the 82nd minute in a pulsating encounter. Although NSC Sunsari poured all men forward in search of an equaliser but HSC rear-guard held their nerves to see off spirited opponents in the dying minutes of the game. Later, HSC's Dady Bamba was declared man of the match for his scintillating performance and bagged a cash purse of Rs 5,000. In the first semi-finals tomorrow, DSC Morang will take on Bijaya Youth Club, according to the organisers. A total of 10 teams including 'A' division clubs are taking part in the tournament.
