KATHMANDU: US Army soldiers and members of the Armed Police Force teamed up to exchange knowledge on the medical first responder. The week-long Subject Matter Expert Exchange, which took place from April 8 to 12, was a marquee event marking a new chapter in partnership between the US Special Operations Command Pacific and APF, stated the US Embassy in its press release on Friday. This is the first time the two organisations worked together in this capacity. The SMEE took place at the APF’s Disaster Management Training School in Kurintar, Dhading district, and covered many topics such as medical and disaster response, including tactical combat, casualty care, trauma patient assessment, crush injury protocol, disaster trauma scenarios and triage. Both sides envisaged the prospect of improving each other’s best medical practices and ideas from their vast knowledge and training experience via the first responder ability. “Events like these that witness the collaboration of the US and Nepali forces are important aspects of the strong partnership between the two countries,” said Captain Jihye Lee, a team leader of the US team.
