BARA: Majority of the wind-storm affected families are reeling under the shortage of utensils to cook food for their families as most of them were damaged during the devastating tornado in Bara and Parsa districts. One of the victims, Binda Devi of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-18 said, 'We are borrowing utensils even to cook rice received in relief packages.' She shared her plight, 'We have been using paper plates to eat our food.' She further claimed that Dalit and marginalised communities in Mangadawa were deprived of relief materials and that there was discrimination even in distribution of such materials. 'We are living under the tents as our homes were destroyed by the strong winds. During the time of the disaster, we relied on fast food such as noodles, biscuits, beaten rice. But it is difficult to survive on such food for a long period,' Binda Devi lamented. Narendra Das of Varbaliya in Pheta Rural Municipality-1 said, especially women and children were terrified when thunder and lightning struck. A sense of well being has declined among majority of the villagers since the devastating tornado struck the region, Das shared.
