No more Hiroshima

No more Hiroshima

By Nimesh Ghimire, Class IX, Budhanilkantha School

Time and again, I am reminded of the catastrophe that took place in Hiroshima within a span of few minutes, way back in 1940’s when the American pilots blasted the place with an atom bomb that took away the life of half a million men, women and children.

Will the same thing be repeated? Will the atom bomb be used again for destruction of the world and an entire human civilisation, which has evolved over millions of years? And what if more of such powerful substances are produced and used for destructive purposes?

War today is not confined to two parties only. It has a high possibility of becoming a world war. And in case a world war breaks out, victory is out of question. It will only result in the destruction of innocent human lives and property and there is no assurance that neutral countries will not suffer. Who knows, perhaps another atomic bomb will blow them up.

World peace is now the question for survival or extinction of living beings. If world peace is not possible, survival of human beings is also impossible. Peace is an outmost need of the world today.
